Project Blue Book Case File
Pecos, New MexicoSeptember 1957
Summary
On September 16, 1957, at about 1935 (7:35 p.m.) near Pecos, New Mexico, a civilian saw one disc-shaped object through eyeglasses. It was about the size of a grapefruit, white with a yellow tint. It had a very long, dull blue vapor trail. The object disappeared instantly and made no sound. The sighting lasted about one second as the object moved to the southwest. The Air Force record card for Project 10073, its official record for unidentified flying object reports, lists the conclusion as probably astronomical. The card says the description, traits, flight path, and short time in sight suggest a meteor.
