Summary

On March 10, 1959, near Oro Grande, California (about 5 miles northwest of Victorville), a civilian woman reported an unusual object in the night sky. The sighting happened around 0925Z (about 9:25 a.m. GMT), at night locally. She had gotten up to give her sick child medicine and was lying in bed watching the stars through her bedroom window when the object appeared.

The witness said the object was very bright and colorless and looked roughly triangular. At arm's length it was about 5 to 6 inches across the base. It seemed to leave a faint trail, which she compared to the after-glow of a cigarette moved quickly through a dark room. The object made no sound and crossed her field of view from east to west in about 3 seconds.

The Air Force investigation noted she was sincere and certain it was not an aircraft. The record card concluded the object sighted was probably a meteor.
