Summary

On May 1, 1959, in Plumas County, an unusual white glow was sighted from three ships at sea. The object was first spotted off Port Bow at twenty-five degrees, positioned twenty-four degrees north. It appeared to be heading toward the ships and was seen by three vessels simultaneously: USS St. Clair City, USS Lincoln City, and one other ship. The light glowed dimly, then brightened as if exploding before disappearing. The sighting lasted approximately three seconds. No official Air Force evaluation is provided on the available pages.
