Summary
On April 25, 1960, the crew of a Greek ship saw a fiery object in the sky north of Mandinga, Panama. The time was around dusk. An officer and a radio operator aboard the vessel reported the sighting.
The object was large and shaped like a teardrop. It had a blue nose, a yellow midsection, and a red tail with small yellow sparks trailing behind it. The whole object had a fiery look. It traveled from northeast to southwest and then disappeared. The witnesses watched it for about two seconds. A sea plane had been seen in the area about 15 minutes earlier, but it resembled an aircraft only in size.
This report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force concluded the object was probably a meteor.
