Summary

In May 1962, a resident of Millsap, Texas reported seeing an unusual object in the sky that moved quickly across the area. The sighting lasted only five to ten seconds, but the observer noted several striking details: the object appeared as a dull white light, made a roaring sound similar to a jet engine, and traveled from southeast to northwest across the sky. The witness initially thought it might be an X-15 experimental aircraft but later concluded it was something else.

The Air Force investigator who reviewed the case noted that the object's speed seemed too fast for any conventional jet aircraft. The witness described an object with a detailed outline, though the brief observation window made precise description difficult. The sound occasionally accompanied the visual sighting, which added to the puzzle of what had been observed.

Based on the evidence in the file, the Air Force evaluated the sighting as unknown. The investigator's written comments mention the possibility that the object was a meteor or bolide (a bright meteor), but stopped short of a definitive conclusion despite the detailed account provided by the witness.
