Insufficient Data

Summary

On March 7, 1956, a civilian on Ground Observer Corps duty at Lutz, Florida, reported two lights at 2116 (9:16 p.m.). The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.

The witness said the two lights were round and reddish-white, about the size of a baseball. They appeared in the east-southeast and faded out in a flash after about one second. The sky was clear. A falling star was seen at about 2128 (9:28 p.m.). The record noted this post had received several calls about such objects, at times as many as five at once, over swamp and pasture land.

The Air Force said there was not enough data for a firm analysis. The record listed a possible meteor, since a meteor was seen in the area at about the same time.
