Project Blue Book Case File
Laveta, ColoradoNovember 1955
Summary
On November 25, 1955, near La Veta, Colorado, a man saw a strange object in the daytime sky. The time was about 1030 (10:30 a.m.). The sky was clear with an unlimited ceiling and no clouds.
The witness was a Colorado state senator. He reported the sighting through the FBI, and an Air Force agent later interviewed him. He said the object was shaped like a dirigible, slightly barrel shaped, with a large front end that tapered toward the tail. It was greenish blue in color and looked luminous, as if made of a jelly like substance. It made no sound and left no exhaust or trail.
He estimated the object was about 15,000 feet above sea level. He said it dived, leveled off, then climbed and vanished. The flight line ran from southwest to northeast. He watched it for about five seconds.
The record card lists the case under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force conclusion on the card was UNIDENTIFIED.
