Summary

On October 3, 1956, a military aircrew near Lamesa, Texas saw one bright metallic gold object. It looked round or oblong, about the size of a dime at arm's length, and had an exhaust trail. The crew saw it from the cockpit of a C-54 aircraft. The object passed out of sight directly overhead, blocked by the canopy. It was in view for only about one second.

The pilot and co-pilot were named in the report and described as reliable. The crew tried to match the object to known flights and weather balloons, but found no match. The report was filed on Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force concluded there was insufficient data for analysis because the object was seen for only one second.
