Summary
On July 13, 1950, at about 5 p.m., a man at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, saw an object in the sky. The witness, an employee connected to a signal office, was on the rear porch of the civilian bachelor quarters. A second man was also present.
The object was triangular and seemed to be made of two sections. It looked about the size of a standard door and appeared to be polished aluminum that gave off a bright light. It flew level at about 1,000 feet and a judged speed of 100 to 125 miles per hour. The weather was very overcast, with a large dark thundercloud behind the object.
The men followed it for about 5 to 8 miles. Near a quarry, the two triangular sections seemed to turn in opposite directions, one clockwise and one counterclockwise, each rotating about a quarter turn for roughly half a minute. The object then steadied, turned at a right angle, and sped out of view in less than 3 seconds. The Air Force record card lists no firm conclusion.
