Project Blue Book Case File
[ILLEGIBLE], [ILLEGIBLE]Date unknown
Summary
On September 2, 1952, at about 7:09 p.m. local time, an unknown flying object was reported in northwest Illinois. The witnesses were civilians.
The object was red and yellow, like a neon sign. It traveled fast when it was bright and slowed when it grew dull. It flew at a low altitude and moved toward the west. When it moved slowly it looked like a street light. The sighting was made by eye only. Radar at a nearby Air Force squadron in Wisconsin could not pick up the object.
The weather report noted scattered clouds, a temperature near 65 degrees, and visibility of about 15 miles, with wind from the west northwest. In Project 10073, the Air Force's official record system for unidentified flying object reports, this case was marked as unknown.
