Hoquiam, Wash, August 1959August 1959
Summary
On the night of August 19, 1959, a witness at the FAA station in Hoquiam, Washington saw four or five lights, bronze to reddish in color. There was no sound and no trail. The lights would chase each other in a tail chase, then reform in an irregular formation. They were about five degrees above the horizon and traveled toward the north. The lights gradually faded off and on, then faded out of sight. The sighting lasted about 20 minutes. The witness used binoculars. This was a civilian, ground visual report.
The report was filed on Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force concluded that all the characteristics pointed to the objects being aircraft.
