Summary

On September 14, 1956, observers near Highland, North Carolina reported fourteen round objects the size of grapefruit. The colors ranged from yellow to deep red. The objects seemed to fly in formation, though the type of formation was not known. Witnesses noted a large exhaust but could not estimate its size.

The objects moved from southwest to east to northeast and then returned, swooping down and up. They were watched for about one and a half hours. One witness was a policeman who reported the sighting. The report noted there may have been more witnesses, but the information came from a single source. The Air Force conclusion was unidentified.
