Summary

Starting in late January 1956 and again on February 10 and 13, a witness near Harrisonville, Missouri, reported a strange object in the sky. The Greenwich time for the later report was 0200Z on February 14. The observer was a civilian.

The witness, a woman in Harrisonville, said the object resembled a flying saucer that was very bright and moved slowly. She first saw it about three weeks earlier, when it came from the east and disappeared to the north. She saw it again on February 10 and again on February 13. On the later night she said the object made a circle pattern over Harrisonville and then disappeared. She said it was brighter than any star and did not fall from sight like a star.

The report was recorded on an Air Force form by a fighter group. The reporting officer noted many conventional and jet aircraft operate near Harrisonville and said it was probable the witness saw aircraft.

The case is filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force conclusion was that the sighting was probably generated by aircraft.
