Summary

On May 27, 1960, observers saw a bright object in the sky east of Japan, near 42 degrees 15 minutes North and 157 degrees 25 minutes East. The card lists one object.

The object was circular and about one quarter the size of a full moon. Its body was bright white and its tail was red. Pieces appeared to break off the body. The card noted the object's flight and speed.

This report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force said it was possible the object was the reentry of a satellite, based on the description and flight path.
