Unidentified

Summary

On about November 14 or 15, 1955, a commercial airline pilot saw an object over Deming, New Mexico. The report reached the Air Force by letter and was a CIRVIS report, a required report of vital sightings. The sighting lasted about 15 minutes. The Air Force time stamp was 0100Z.

The pilot described one object flying from the southwest corner of New Mexico toward Albuquerque, heading northeast. The object had a light on the rear, or a light came from its tail. It was estimated to be at about 25,000 feet and seemed to be going very fast.

The Air Force concluded the object was probably a jet aircraft. Officers said the altitude, heading, and the light from the rear suggested a jet and its exhaust.
