Summary

On August 8, 1949, two prospectors reported finding a large circular object crashed on the ground in Death Valley, California. The object was approximately 24 feet in diameter and 7 feet thick. Two small men, heavily clothed, ran from the crash site and disappeared over a ridge. One of the men claimed to have a scientific background. After examining a portion of the object, he stated it was principally composed of calcium, iridescent material, and was radio active. The material reportedly had small green wires running through it. The prospectors retained a small sample. The Federal Bureau of Investigation forwarded this report to the Air Force Officer in Charge at Headquarters District 18 CSI in Maywood, California, for appropriate disposition.
