Summary

On January 14, 1950, a car salesman in Dalton, Georgia, reported an aircraft passing very low over his home. He was backing his car out of his driveway when he saw it. The object was gone within about one second.

The man said the aircraft flew very low and made no sound. He could see navigation lights, described as red and green. It flew from east to west, while he said other aircraft over that area usually flew north and south. There were no trees or houses blocking his view of its path. His two children, ages 14 and 16, also saw it. He reported the sighting by telephone to a nearby airfield.

The Flight Service section said it would look into the matter. On the Air Force record for unidentified flying object reports (Project 10073), the conclusion was conventional aircraft.
