Summary

On August 12, 1951, near Corona, New Mexico, a witness reported a fast moving object in the sky. The sighting lasted about 10 seconds. The object was round and looked about the size of a 6 inch disc held at arm's length. Its color shifted from yellowish white to orange to green. The witness said it moved as fast as a jet aircraft.

The object was first seen about 45 degrees above the horizon. It then dropped at about a 60 degree angle until it was just above the horizon. The Air Force, in its Project 10073 record (the official file for unidentified flying object reports), evaluated the case as a meteor.
