Summary

On June 25, 1960, the crew of a British West Indies Airways Viscount airliner saw an object over the Caribbean Sea. The plane was flying from San Juan, Puerto Rico, toward Barbados. The crew reported a very bright white object with a green center moving at great speed. About one minute later the object broke apart into several green flaming pieces. People on the ground reportedly collected samples described as light in weight, like a sponge, but made of metal. The samples were never received for analysis. The Air Force concluded the sighting was probably astronomical. The card said the description matched a bolide, but no physical specimen was received.
