Summary

On the night of September 18, 1959, six to eight objects were seen from Camp Kinser, a Marine base on Okinawa. The witnesses were Marines on the ground. Each object appeared singly as a point of white and yellow light.

The objects moved at jet-like speeds and seemed to be at low altitude. Witnesses said they appeared to oscillate, roll, and dart. The objects rose out of sight rapidly toward the west-southwest. Each was visible for about 35 to 40 seconds. The night was bright with moonlight and scattered low clouds.

A weather balloon had been released at nearby Kadena Air Base around the same time, and the report noted it may have carried a light source. The Air Force concluded the observers probably saw meteors from a known meteor shower, which are comparatively slow. The card lists the case as probably astronomical. This was part of Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
