Project Blue Book Case File
Brunswick, Ga., March 1950March 1950
Summary
On March 28, 1950, between about 11:15 and 11:30 a.m., several people in Brunswick, Georgia, reported flying objects. Witnesses described five objects, three in one group and two in another, flying at altitudes estimated at 30,000 to 40,000 feet. A garageman watched them through binoculars and said they were shaped like a plate, round but flat on the bottom. Experienced aviators, including two airport commission members flying in separate small planes, also reported seeing the objects. The objects left vapor trails.
The witnesses estimated the objects' speed at 1,800 to 2,000 miles per hour based on altitude, distance, and time. They said the objects first traveled south, then disappeared and reappeared going north. Some witnesses admitted the objects may have been a new type of American aircraft.
The report came through Army channels with an attached newspaper clipping. The file is built mainly from that clipping and witness statements.
