Insufficient Data

Summary

# Assonet, Massachusetts - July 1959

A civilian in Assonet, Massachusetts reported seeing an unidentified object in the northeastern sky on July 30, 1959 at 2:30 a.m. The object was about the size of the moon when first spotted and appeared to travel toward the witness. Its color changed from yellow-white to a dull red as it moved across the sky.

The witness reported that the object stopped directly overhead. Frightened by the experience, the observer hid beneath an overpass. The sighting lasted about ten minutes in total.

The Air Force investigation was hampered by the late arrival of the report, which made a thorough evaluation difficult. Without more detailed information or corroborating evidence, the case could not be conclusively explained. The Air Force filed the case as "Insufficient Data for Evaluation."
