Summary

On February 11, 1959, at 11 a.m., a civilian reported a sighting five miles south of Rockingham, North Carolina. The witness observed a round object two to three hundred feet in diameter with a two hundred foot tail. The object was dark green in color. The sighting lasted ten seconds. The object moved south and disappeared below the horizon. The Air Force concluded the object had all the characteristics of a large meteor.
