Summary

On June 1, 1961, at 11:13 p.m., a bright object was observed near latitude 19.25 N, longitude 116.20 E at an altitude of 60 degrees. The object was directly overhead and emitted fire and fragments. It continued on course bearing 140 degrees at an altitude of 20 degrees before disappearing behind a heavy cloud formation with a brilliance of a first magnitude star. The sighting was confirmed by two other officers and appeared similar to Echo satellite in orbit direction but did not reappear. No Air Force evaluation is provided in the available documents.
