Insufficient Data

Summary

On April 14, 1961, four objects were picked up on air intercept radar near Anderson Air Force Base, in the Pacific area around 18 degrees 34 minutes north and 142 degrees 57 minutes east. The contacts lasted about 10 to 15 minutes. The objects showed only as radar blips and were not seen by eye.

Two blips were side by side, with two others slightly below and to the side. The heading marker read 340 degrees. The blips were small and not well defined, similar to returns caused by surface ships.

The Air Force noted that key details were missing, such as the object's speed, any maneuvers, the type of radar, the operator's experience, and weather in the area. With so little to work with, the case was listed as insufficient data.
