Summary

On the night of November 24, 1959, an object was reported from the ship Santa Monica in the Atlantic Ocean, near 11 degrees north and 73 degrees west. The witness was described as a young civilian observer. The sighting lasted about four seconds.

The object was a bright fiery object heading east, at about a 45 degree elevation and a bearing of 340 degrees. It exploded and burst like a roman candle.

The Air Force concluded the description was characteristic of a bolide, a bright meteor. The card lists the case as astronomical, a meteor. This was part of Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
