Insufficient Data

Summary

On February 6, 1959, a civilian about one mile south of Dinwiddie, Virginia, reported objects in the sky. The sighting was about 3:45 p.m. local time (2045 GMT) and lasted about one and a half minutes. The witness was a housewife and former pilot's wife; her husband had been an Air Force pilot.

She first noticed a high flying aircraft leaving contrails, then saw two very bright objects that looked like silver mirrors and seemed to be hovering. They were far away yet closer than the jet contrails. She lost sight of them after driving behind some trees. Follow up questions established the weather was clear, her car was moving about 35 mph, and the objects were small enough to be covered by one hand on the windshield.

The Air Force record card noted it was possible the observer saw a reflection. However, the card said there was insufficient information to form a valid conclusion.
