Summary

On September 28, 1960, a civilian near Wolfe City, Texas, reported an object due east of the town between about midnight and 1 a.m. local. The witness, an Air Force reservist, described an object with the general appearance of a star or planet that pulsated from white to orange, red, and green. It moved from about 45 degrees above the horizon down to about 20 degrees, then appeared to hover, bob, and dart side to side, with occasional bright white flashes. He said it moved faster and changed direction more suddenly than any aircraft and ruled out a satellite or missile. Three other witnesses also saw it. The Air Force asked for more information but received no reply. The card noted no conclusion could be drawn, except a possible sighting of the planet Jupiter with atmospheric refraction, which was also reported from several other southern states during this period.
