Project Blue Book Case File
S of Ft Worth, TexasJanuary 1951
Summary
On January 8, 1951, south of Fort Worth, Texas, a civilian couple and other witnesses reported groups of lights in the sky. The report is part of Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
While driving, the couple saw a series of lights about 1,000 feet up on a vertical plane. The lights formed triangles, two green and one red in each group, making a larger triangle. They saw several such groups to the east and west as well. At first the lights were stationary. Then the main group began moving north toward Fort Worth at an estimated 100 miles per hour or less, while a western group moved at about twice that speed. The lights did not blink and resembled lights on a water tower or radio antenna. As they moved away, a sound like an outboard motor trolling in the distance could be heard. The witnesses watched for about five minutes.
The Air Force listed its conclusion for this case as unidentified.
