Project Blue Book Case File
Oklahoma City, Okla, [ILLEGIBLE]Date unknown
Summary
On October 25, 1958, a couple in Oklahoma City saw a fast-moving light cross the night sky. The object appeared as bright as a star and was no larger than the head of a pin. It traveled from the southwest to the northeast in a straight line, staying high above the clouds. The entire sighting lasted about one minute.
The witnesses were a husband and wife, both 65 years old. The husband worked for the State of Oklahoma. They reported seeing a steady white light that resembled a star. According to their account, the object moved very high and very fast, with no sound, tail, or trail visible. One other report mentioned a single light that blinked on and off at five-second intervals, though it is unclear from the file whether this describes the same object or a separate sighting.
The Air Force investigated the sighting and gathered wind data from the Oklahoma City area at various altitudes. A note in the file states that the witnesses called in their report because they thought the object might be a satellite and wanted confirmation. The Air Force's conclusion, as recorded on the case summary, was that the object had been "determined to be Sputnik rocket." The file does not elaborate on the reasoning behind this determination.
