Muscatine, IowaAugust 1955
Summary
On about August 26, 1955, in Muscatine, Iowa, civilians at a Ground Observer Corps post reported a star-shaped object. Witnesses included a state worker, a salesman, and a paint store manager. The sighting lasted about two hours.
The object was described as star-shaped. With the naked eye it appeared to change from red to green. Through binoculars it changed from red to green to white. It was reported to rise and fall (ascend and descend) within a limited area and stayed in one general spot.
The Air Force concluded the sighting was probably a star. The duty director noted a strong possibility it was a star. The card also notes that positional data was not included.
