McKeesport, Pa., July 1948 - Incident Number: 161July 1948

Insufficient Data

Summary

On July 8, 1948, around midday, two female residents of McKeesport, Pennsylvania reported seeing a large silver disc-shaped object zooming silently overhead in the direction of Kennywood Park. The object was described as approximately 12 to 15 inches in diameter. One witness told her neighbor it looked like a flying saucer. The disc disappeared into a cloud bank but reappeared on the far side and was followed until it went out of sight. The report came from untrained, unofficial witnesses. The Air Force concluded the women likely saw ordinary aircraft with reflected sunlight from its fuselage, not from its wings.
