Summary

On February 27, 1957, military and civilian ground observers at Ellington Air Force Base, Texas, reported a single object. The case was logged under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The object was round and white and looked about the size of a grapefruit at arm's length.

The object flew in a straight line from north to south and was watched, by eye and through binoculars, for one minute and 45 seconds. It moved too fast for the observers to note fine details. The sky was clear with visibility about 15 miles.

Based on the description, the duration, and the flight path, the Air Force concluded the sighting was probably caused by the sun reflecting off a high flying aircraft.
