Baltimore, Maryland, [ILLEGIBLE]Date unknown
Summary
On September 21, 1952, at 0843 (8:43 a.m.), a high school student in Baltimore, Maryland saw three objects arranged in a triangle formation moving across the sky. The point of the triangle faced southwest, the direction the objects were traveling. One object was green, while the other two were white. The observer described the white objects as about the size of a nickel coin and the green object as about the size of a quarter. The entire sighting lasted approximately one minute.
The objects moved at a speed of about 180 knots (roughly 207 miles per hour), comparable to a jet aircraft. They produced a whine similar to a jet engine but lower in pitch. The observer watched from the ground under clear conditions and used no optical or electronic equipment. The sighting location was at approximately 39 degrees 15 minutes north latitude and 76 degrees 37 minutes west longitude. According to the file, the observer's reliability and experience were unknown.
Weather conditions at the time were favorable for observation. The sky was clear with eight miles of visibility. Winds varied by altitude, ranging from six knots near the surface to eighty knots at 42,000 feet, all generally from westerly directions. No aircraft were detected by electronic equipment in the observation area at the time the report was made.
The Air Force evaluated this case as unknown. The complete case file, comprising 20 pages as held by the National Archives on microfilm T1206, Roll 15, is reproduced below.
