Summary

On April 2, 1952, at 2039 (8:39 p.m.) local time, about 6 miles southwest of Lometa, Texas, Air Force officers and a radar team reported a large fireball. A single object was seen. It was orange to silver in color with a white-bluish tail and shaped like a cigar with a tail.

The object first appeared to be heading on an azimuth of about 300 degrees, then turned to about 180 degrees and suddenly disappeared. The report noted other fireball sightings in the area. The Air Force evaluated the case as a meteor.
