Summary

On October 1, 1956, a civilian airline captain observed unusual lights about 20 miles west of Punk City, Texas. The witness reported two white and bright trailing lights that emitted bright flashes, followed by a trailing light. The objects traveled from north to south at above 22 degrees heading. The sighting lasted five seconds and was observed air visually. A DC-7 aircraft flying at 22 degrees and 333 knots from Los Angeles was in the area. The Air Force evaluated the sighting as probably astronomical, likely meteors.
